I am a very bad person!

Not only am I a bad person, I'm also a terrible influence. Let me explain why.

Mum asked me to help at Guides tonight because their Guider was away tonight and she needed an extra pair of hands. I took my laptop so I could show the girls my pictures from Guide Camp. My destop wallpaper is from tonight's Sarah Jane Adventures, which of course led to a conversation about Dr. Who and Torchwood. I let slip I had some of [info]cowboyhd's lovely Janto animations on my hardrive. They of course wanted to see them. I gave in but accidentally showed them one of the Hot House ones. Then, they bullied me into showing them. They even forced me to hide in another room with them so they could see them without Mum knowing. Mum did catch us but I think she decided if no-one told her what we'd been up to then she couldn't tell us off. I shut it down after that.

We also talked about Twilight, the book that dominated camp, now that I've read it. Teased one of the girls that she's a fangirl; she knows more about Twilight than is healthy. Also wound up explaining the concept of slash to some of them after I let that slip.

So, yeah. I should not be allowed around teenage girls.

I'm back!

Camp was AMAZING!!!

Our motto became:
1st Cheddar Guides: We're special

And our song was: "Eggs, milk, flour, pancake power"

As you can guess it was quite random. The girls were wonderful and I had a fantastic time. I could go on for hours. Actually I did. I talked from 7 without stopping for nearly two hours straight with Mum just going "mhmm" in all the right places. I was running on pure adrenaline but now I'm starting to crash. I'm gunna be knackered tomorrow morning. In fact, I'm knackered right now.

Guernsey was gorgeous, the sun shined and I've gone a nice brown which is better than my usual white. Our Guider gave me a lovely bracelet as a thank you present and the girls made me some amazing cards.

The only down side was that I didn't get anywhere near as much writing done as I'd hoped to. That was for the simple reason that I was up from 6.30am 'til 10.30pm every night and didn't stop until I was tucked up in my sleeping bag. I have done some but hope to do more.

Bye, bye

I'm going away FOREVER. Ok, not forever (only 'til next Monday) but it feels a bit like that. LJ is my lifeline and a whole week without it's gunna be strange.

Tomorrow morning I leave for Guernsey with a group of Guides. I'm going as their Young Leader and it's gunna be my first camp as one. I know most of the girls as I've met them before but they're my Mum's Guides so we're not close. I'm a Brownie Young Leader. You can probably understand why I'm a bit apprehensive.

I still have to finish packing and bake a cake. Oh, well. On the bright side, the time away without LJ will probably mean I'll get some writing done; if I'm reading other people's stuff, I'm not writing.

*Is very proud*

I know I moan like buggery about my brownies sometimes but tonight they made me so proud.

I arranged to have a guest speaker come and talk to the girls. She was from a local wildlife rescue called Secret World and she brought some animals with her. We had a flightless bat called Ned, a hedgehog who wasn't far off being released back to the wild, a corn snake called Victor (who spent a large chunk of the evening wrapped around my arms) and Zazzle the Barn Owl.

My mum had had them visit the Guides but Guides are older and I was a bit worried the girls would get silly but the Brownies were better behaved than I'd ever seen them. Our speaker Debbie was lovely and even said how good they were. Next week, I fully intend to tell them how proud of them I am.

On a similar note, I'm going to Guernsey with the Guides this summer (God help us all!). I'm really looking forward to it now.
